FAQ's about the thermatech

What can it help with?

Built-up dirt or pollutants can accelerate the growth of biological matter, which in turn can quicken the erosion and decay of stone surfaces and mortars.  

  • Improve the appearance of, and protect, stonework
  • Remove unwanted paintwork, stains, and residue from masonry
  • Remove carbon sulphation and other unwanted soilings
  • Remove oil- and water-based masonry paint
  • Remove weather stains from stone and masonry
  • Protect masonry from mould and bacteria.

How does it work?

Unlike a conventional hot water pressure washer, the ThermaTech system combines continuous high

temperature and pressure and lower water volume. This is delivered as a liquid spray, even at

temperatures close to 155ºC.   Low pressures can be used for the gentle cleaning of the most delicate substrates.   The ThermaTech has approximately 50% more performance in terms of pressure, as well as in terms of water volume than other styles of systems.


What can it remove?

Often without the addition of any chemicals, ThermaTech can be used for the melting or removal of the following from stone, brick, limestone, sandstone, granite and more: 


  • organic matter including algae, lichen and moss
  • paint and coatings (including graffiti)
  • chewing gum, bird droppings
  • Wax, Oil, Bitumen 

Is it safe to use on significantly important built heritage and monuments?

YES! The ThermaTech system was developed in the UK and is, unlike other machines, purposely made  for delicate, historic surfaces and substrates and has been used on structures from historic castles like the Tower of London to stone statues in Jeddah.

Is it environmentally friendly?

Yes!   Energy consumption is minimised through high-efficiency electric motors  and air powered devices.    The highly effective cleaning delivered by the ThermaTech® system reduces reliance on cleaning chemicals by enabling effective use of milder chemicals (where required).   Water consumption is key and the system has been designed around high performance in conjunction with reduced water consumption .
